Origamies LLC ("Origamies," "we," "us," or "our"), doing business as Claws, operates the Claws mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use Claws.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly and information generated through your use of the app:
- Account Information: When you create an account using Google Sign-In, we collect your name and email address.
- Your Cat and App Content: Information you enter about your cat and your use of the app, such as your cat's profile, weight entries, food and care notes, and reminders.
- Chat Messages: The messages you send to Claws and the responses it generates.
- Images: Photos you choose to upload into a chat (selected from your photo library). These are used to generate Claws's response and are kept only briefly, as described in Data Retention below.
- Usage and Diagnostic Data: Information about how you interact with the app, along with device type, operating system version, app version, and crash and performance data. This is collected through Google Firebase to help us understand usage and fix problems. We do not serve ads or share your data with advertising networks.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can send you reminders.
- Payment Information: Subscriptions are processed by Apple, with subscription status managed through RevenueCat. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide the app's features, including AI chat, cat care tracking, and reminders
- Generate Claws's responses to your messages and images
- Improve, troubleshoot, and optimize the app experience
- Communicate with you about updates, support, and service-related notices
3. How AI Works in Claws
Claws's responses are generated by AI models from our AI providers — currently Anthropic and xAI. When you send a message or upload an image, the content of that message or image — along with relevant context about your cat needed to answer you — is sent to one of these providers to generate Claws's reply. Which provider handles a given conversation may depend on your settings and on how we configure the app. The AI providers we use may change over time; if we add or switch providers, we will update this Privacy Policy.
Our AI providers process this content solely to generate Claws's responses. Neither Anthropic nor xAI uses this content to train its models, and each retains it only for a limited period (generally up to 30 days) for safety and security purposes before deleting it.
Because your messages are processed by our AI providers to answer you, Claws is not designed to receive sensitive personal information (such as financial information, government IDs, or health details about yourself), and you provide any such information at your own risk. We do not share any sensitive information about you with our AI providers beyond what you choose to share with Claws yourself. 4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We use Google Firebase (by Google LLC) for sign-in, data storage, analytics, and notifications; Anthropic and xAI for AI processing; and RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers in the United States.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Safety: We may share information when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of our users, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
Each of these providers processes data under its own terms and privacy policies, which may change over time.
5. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the app:
- Chat messages are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Uploaded images are automatically deleted after 3 days.
- Account information and your cat's data are kept while your account is active.
If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted; certain internal logging records may persist for up to 30 days before they are removed. We may retain limited data where required for legal or regulatory purposes, and anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained for analytics.
6. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed on servers in the United States through our service providers. Where required, these transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, to protect your personal information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Request a portable copy of your data
- Withdraw consent at any time (for data processed based on consent)
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (we do not sell or share your data, but you may still make this request)
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

9. Legal Basis for Processing
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: Creating your account and providing the app's core features.
- Consent: Optional features such as push notifications, which you can turn off at any time.
- Legitimate interest: Analytics to improve the app, security, and fraud prevention.
10. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app's settings. Once deletion is initiated, it cannot be undone, and your personal data is deleted; certain internal logging records may persist for up to 30 days before they are removed. Account deletion is permanent.
11. Children's Privacy
Claws is intended only for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from someone under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
